PERFECT FOR BARGAIN HUNTERS

Honest prices: The final hammer price of every item featured in Collecticus will be determined by the bids that have been placed by interested parties, meaning Collecticus offers great opportunities for acquiring bargains.

Low start prices: All of our start prices (the minimum price for which a lot can be sold) are set low, and there are no reserve prices. That means, if an item has a start price of £1 and you are the only bidder, you will win the item for just £1, regardless of how much you were prepared to pay.

No postage charges: The start price for every item includes all postage and packing charges.

No buyers’ premium: There are no hidden charges of any kind. Successful bidders pay only the hammer price for any item they were successful on, and then simply sit back and wait for the items to arrive in the post.

PERFECT FOR COLLECTORS

Collecticus covers almost every kind of collectable imaginable, from matchbox labels to Matchbox cars, from Oxo tins to tinplate toys, and from headed paper to paperweights. However, Collecticus is also proud to incorporate several specialist auctions in every issue.

PERFECT FOR SELLERS

Great value: For one low listing fee you can provide a 20-word description, a photograph, and a start price for your item. Your lot will then appear in the magazine and on our website, giving you TWO ways to advertise your items for the price of one.

Simple to use: Send your lot descriptions through the post, or send details via our website.

Secure: The highest bidder for your item will send payment directly to us. Once the payment has cleared with our bank we will forward you the money (less a 10% commission), and only once you have received the payment from us will you be asked to send the item to the seller.

Unlimited: As long as you are a Collecticus subscriber there is absolutely no limit to the number of items that you can sell (subject to a listing fee for each lot submitted).

PERFECT FOR INVESTORS

As well as the opportunity to buy and sell great collectables, Collecticus also provides lots of tips and information to help budding entrepreneurs who are looking to maximise the potential investment of a collection.

Hints and tips: Throughout the pages of Collecticus we have scattered some fascinating pieces of information. Some of this information is specifically related to how to help improve your chances of turning a profit, but some of it is more general historical background information for popular collectables. For example, did you know that pre-1950s AA handbooks are rather rare and therefore valuable? Or did you know that Lesney Products, the company responsible for Matchbox cars, was founded in 1947?

Lee Styles: Booter Lee Styles has a regular column in which he discusses his adventures at car boot sales and collectors fairs. He always has one ear to the ground, and his advice on what to buy and when to buy it could prove invaluable.

Watching Values: In every issue we discuss some of the most interesting sales from a previous auction. Not only do these reports focus on the things that are selling well, but they will also draw attention to anything that seems to be suffering a dip in interest. Why are some things selling better than others, and what items offer a good potential investment? Our findings can really help you make sound decisions when you are looking to buy and sell similar items to those that are featured.

Auction Results: The final hammer price of every item listed in an issue will appear in a subsequent issue, and the magazines can quickly build into an informative resource that will help you track market trends.
