5985 PG TIPS COLLECTION / PG TIPS
PG TIPS COLLECTION / PG TIPSPG Tips Collection (pu 180) £4 - £6 (5985) PG Tips was launched in 1930 by Brooke Bond. Originally it was called Digestive, but new regulations after World War II, from the Ministry of Food, banned the use of the word "digestive" as a trade description for tea. This resulted in a name change to Pregestee, which was eventually shortened to PG. The "Tips" part of the name refers to the fact that only the very tips of the leaves are used in the production of the tea. The first chimp advertisements for PG appeared in 1956. Over the years the cheeky chimps have been voiced by such talents as Kenneth Williams, Peter Sellers and Bob Monkhouse. This collection consists of: Trev and Simon World Tour. 1992.
